This month, you are among nearly 300 readers in 40 countries to have had a look, or two, at Raisedintheforeignservice!  Lots of you are here in the US, which I expected, but technology has made it as easy for you to connect from Australia, Bahamas, Belarus, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Colombia, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, Romania, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and Japan. Wow!

I would love to hear from you and let you talk to each other as well, so this post is going to be mostly NOT  my words, but instead, yours. If you feel comfortable sharing a bit, there’s room under the post in Leave a Reply.

I’ll start:  I’m Jane to my family and Kelly to everyone else. I’m a retired New York State government professional living in Palm Beach County, Florida, teaching fitness part time while working on my blog and my memoir: Embassy Kid: When the Dictator Flew Over Our House & Other True Stories. My husband and I have enjoyed traveling in the Caribbean, Mediterranean, and the Baltic; spent two weeks in Paris and Amsterdam this year; and will sail back across the Atlantic to Amsterdam in May, staying for a month this time. On the way, our ship will stop in Norway, where I hope to meet some of my Amerson cousins.  I enjoy taking pictures and telling stories, much like my dad, and connecting people, much like my mom.  Our daughter is my biggest fan.

So, how about you?

  1. Love the blog! I have a semi-retired blog out there in blog-o-sphere, called “Recovered Third Culture Kid”.. I say semi because I hope to pick it up some day. I am working full time in a second career, and barely have time to come home and go to bed. Anyway, I will write more later!!
